The Facility Maintenance and Operation Committee (FMOC) Meeting
2:30pm – 5:00pm
FMOC is a NIBS committee
focusing on the improved performance and longevity of
buildings and building systems through more consistent,
effective, and proper facility maintenance and operation.
The FMOC has established the following three objectives:
• To increase maintenance and operations influence in
the facility acquisition process;
• To promote the sharing and integration of facilities
maintenance and operations procedures and
information; and
• To identify and disseminate "best" practices for the
maintenance and operations of facilities.
Current activities consist of the development of the
Maintenance and Operations Section of the Whole Building
Design Guide, www.wbdg.org, the Construction Operations
Building Information Exchange (COBIE), a project to develop
an interoperable, open standard data exchange for
construction submittal information coordinated with the
National Building Information Model Standard, and the International Alliance
for Interoperability, and innovative
tools for maintenance training and collaboration.
Free and open to all attendees, no pre-registration required.

Facility Information Council (FIC) Annual Meeting
12:30pm – 2:30pm
Mission
Improve the performance of facilities over their full lifecycle
by fostering a common, standard and integrated
life-cycle information model for the A/E/C & FM
industry. This information model will allow for the free
flow of graphic and non-graphic information among all
parties to the process of creating and sustaining the
built environment, and will work to coordinate U.S.
efforts with related activities taking place internationally.
Agenda
The National Institute of Building Sciences has emerged
at the center of integration efforts in the construction
industry as one of its roles. While many prestigious
organizations develop standards for their aspect of the
construction industry, NIBS brings them all together
and is coordinating the outcome. NIBS only agenda is
the advancement of building sciences and has
demonstrated itself as a non-threatening environment
for both the public and private sector to work together
in advancing the building sciences for this country and
the world. The Facility Information Council has also
been dedicated to that mission since their inception
and is now beginning to see the fruits of their labors.
Free and open to all attendees, no pre-registration required.
