P3 Conference Sessions Track One
8:00 am – Expanding the Use of Visualization in Plant Design
Visualization has become a key technology for plant design review. But it is capable of being much more. This session will explore how visualization can be implemented throughout the design-construct-manage plant lifecycle.
Speakers: Josef Kauzlarich, Marketing Analyst, AEC Design Group
Randall S.Newton, Editor-in-Chief, AECnews and CADCAMNet
9:00 am – ISO 15926 - The Leading Interoperability Standard for the Process Facilities Industry
The ISO 15926 standard has emerged in response to the need for better interoperability in plant design. Because interoperability is the key to collaboration, understanding how to implement ISO 15926 is essential. This session will cover what has been achieved to date regarding implementation of the ISO standard and how it, and technologies that use it, can deliver interoperability for companies today.
Speaker: Robin Benjamins, Corporate Integration Manager, Bechtel Corporation
10:00 am – Alarm Management for Safer and More Effective Plant Operations
Modern plant control systems afford the opportunity for the monitoring and alarming of an unlimited number of process points – whether measured or calculated. Unfortunately, the convenience and ease with which alarm points can be configured generally leads to too many alarm conditions being monitored, defeating the very purpose of succinct and timely alerting of abnormal conditions. This session presents a software-based approach to Alarm Management which has been deployed at hundreds of process plants for the implementation and maintenance of an optimized alarm system, consistent with the HAZOP analysis and PHA goals of the operating facility.
Speaker: Eddie Habibi, CEO, PAS
11:00 am – A Pecha Kucha-Style Side-by-Side Overview of P&ID Software
We are inviting the leading vendors of P&ID software to present their product in the pecha kucha format, one by one. We will leave plenty of time for audience questions.
Speakers:
Ursula Sadiq, Senior Designer, Autodesk Plant Solutions
Vornel Walker, Marketing Manager, COADE
Josef Kauzlarich, Marketing Analyst, AEC Design Group
12:00 pm – Lunch on exhibit floor
1:00 pm – The Wisdom of Our Crowd -- A Conversation with P3 Attendees
The keynote session of the inaugural P3 conference will feature those who made it possible -- the attendees! Conference Director Randall S. Newton, Editor-in-Chief of AECnews and CADCAMNet, will take the microphone into the audience to find out what keeps P3 attendees up at night... and what they are doing about it. Come ready to listen, learn, and speak!
Speaker: Randall S. Newton, Editor-in-Chief, AECnews and CADCAMNet
2:00 pm – Break to view exhibits
3:00 pm – Product Lifecycle Management for the Next Generation of Process and Power Plants
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) has historically been associated with manufacturing, shipbuilding and aerospace. Although the power industry builds individual plants instead of thousands of products, PLM practices can be applied in the next generation of power plants. These practices will reduce risks and improve the bottom line of most capital intensive industries, including process and power.
Speaker: Rolf Gibbels, Director, WW Industry Solutions Leader,Process, Power & Petroleum – AEC, Dassault Systèmes of America Corp.
4:00 pm – A Pecha Kucha-Style Side-by-Side Overview of Piping Software
We are inviting the leading vendors of plant piping software to present their product in the pecha kucha format, one by one. We will leave plenty of time for audience questions.
Speaker: Vornel Walker, Marketing Manager, COADE
Josef Kauzlarich, Marketing Analyst, AEC Design Group
P3 Conference Sessions Track Two
8:00 am – Wikinomics, Mass Collaboration, and the ISO 15926 WIP: A Powerful Convergence
Mass collaboration is reshaping the use and value of technology. Learn how FIATECH is accelerating deployment and implementation of ISO 15926 by creating a Work in Progress using mass collaboration techniques, to help overcome the challenges facing the Capital Facilities Industry.
Speaker: Dr. Richard H.F. Jackson, Director, FIATECH
9:00 am – Web-Based Project Management Best Practices for the Full Plant Lifecycle
Technology and developing trends in AEC industry are impacting the delivery of Plant projects. This session will focus on the important elements and key benefits of standardizing business and operating processes on uniform, organization-wide technologies. Learn how successful adoption of project management technology for Plant Lifecycle Management can drive interoperability, accountability, and provide for effective collaboration across design and construction through operation and maintenance.
Speakers:
Richard Sappé, AEC Industry Manager - Primavera Systems
Peter Sinanian, Channel Manager – Primavera Systems
11:00 am – How Will Green Trends Affect The Plant Industry?
All capital construction projects, including plants, are being challenged to address sustainability and related "green building" issues. This session will explore the unique challenges facing process and power plants, with an eye to how engineering IT can make it easier to address these issues.
Moderators:
Mark Strassman, Vice President, Autodesk Plant Solutions
Grahame E. Maisey, PE, Chief Engineer, Building Services Consultants, Inc.
Paul R. Bertram, Jr. FCSI, CDT, LEED® AP, Director, Environment and Sustainability, North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, NAIMA
Noon – Lunch on exhibit floor
1:00 pm – Keynote Presentation
2:00 pm – Break to view exhibits
3:00 pm – 3D Laser Scanning: Business Drivers & Technology Update
The business case for 3D laser scanning just keeps getting better. Laser scanning work processes deliver safer, faster, more accurate and complete and more economic capture of existing conditions of capital assets than conventional survey methods. Come hear the results of new research.
Speaker: Bruce Jenkins, President of Research, Spar Point Research LLC
